This fleur de sel is recognizable by its pink colour due to the concentration of pink micro-shrimps that flamingos feed on in the Camargue. These crystals have the particularity of having a pronounced iodized taste.

 

In the Camargue near the Mediterranean Sea, there are the famous landscapes known throughout the world, the salt marshes and these famous pink birds, the pink flamingos.

 

Naturally present in the soils of this region, salt has been cultivated there since ancient times. The land is flat and the rainfall density is low, which facilitates the evaporation of water and therefore the harvesting of salt.

All fleur de sels are harvested by artisanal salt workers using traditional methods using lousse à fleur. They follow a natural drying process in the sun.
